Dubai International has three passenger terminals. Terminal 3 contains A, B and C gate areas, while Terminal 1 connects to D Gates. Terminal 2 uses a different part of the airport complex.
Same-ticket transfer
On a protected connection, follow transfer signage and airline instructions. Dubai Airports describes dedicated transfer desks and airport-train links for some gate areas. Do not leave the transfer flow unless instructed.
Separate tickets
Dubai Airports warns that travelers on separate tickets may need to clear passport control, retrieve baggage and check in again depending on visa and baggage arrangements. That can transform a simple connection into a much longer process.
Terminal 2 needs extra attention
If Terminal 2 is involved, give the itinerary more margin. It is not simply another concourse reached by walking from Terminal 3. Confirm the transfer process with the airline before travel.
DXB versus DWC
Dubai World Central is a separate airport roughly 60 km from DXB. A connection that changes airport is fundamentally different and requires immigration, baggage and ground transport planning.
Frequently asked questions
Are DXB Terminals 1 and 3 the same building?

Is Terminal 2 connected by Metro?
Direct Dubai Metro airport stations are at Terminals 1 and 3.
Is DWC another terminal at DXB?
No. DWC is a separate airport.
